Between the Lines | Bhuwal Prasad Solo

2nd Floor, 694, Road No. 33, Aditya Enclave, Venkatagiri, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, Telangana 500033

Solid lines distinguish Bhuwal’s art. These lines appear on multiple mediums, textures, many a times across dimensions. They guard, bound and shape colours and other lines.

Beyond these lines, Bhuwal’s art is more layered.

There is a smiling ogre if you let the child in you peek at it. There is a rainbow with 3 colours, and an elephant giving gifts.

There is much to admire in terms of the comfort of moving across mediums and dimensions by an artist, and the interesting compositions with so little form.

Shifting to a more contemporary perspective might suggest a representation of anarchy.  Or does this ironically capture the spirit of unbridled innocence reflected by the colours and shapes traversing these lines.

Or is this a tribute to the ancient cultures where signs and hieroglyphics were the original art form? Or a reflection of our nature to make everything our own by drawing, painting over materials that precede us and will outlive us.

One can take any of these or any other perspectives while looking at Bhuwal’s oeuvre. Beyond the materials, textures, colors and the lines, is where stories abound. Finding and making these stories your own is the perhaps the defining perspective for experiencing Bhuwal’s art to the fullest. That is where art transforms into experience.
